Two-Day Working Session

This is a two-day working session focused on macro forecasting and modeling in practice.

The sessions are small and discussion-based, working directly with data, models, and current workflows. The focus is not just on the techniques themselves, but on how macroeconomic information is structured, interpreted, and used in decision-making.

Structure

The session is structured over two days, moving from simple relationships to more developed systems and applications.

Day One

The first day focuses on building a foundation in how macro relationships are expressed in data and models.

This includes simple regression frameworks, time series structure, and forecasting approaches. The emphasis is on understanding how model outputs relate to economic intuition and how they can be used to form a view.

Day Two

The second day moves into multi-variable systems and more applied frameworks.

This includes vector autoregressions, cointegration, and approaches to scenario analysis. The focus is on how models are combined and interpreted, and how they feed into an ongoing decision process.

How It’s Run

The sessions are hands-on and run in small groups.

Work is done directly in Python using real data, with a focus on building and working through models rather than following a fixed script. Discussion is a central part of the process, and the direction of the session will adapt to the group and the questions that arise.

AI is used throughout as part of the workflow, particularly in working with data, structuring analysis, and extending models.

Who It’s For

The sessions tend to work best for those already working with economic or financial data, or for those looking to build a more structured approach to macro analysis within an existing role.
